What to do in Winnipeg: Spring Edition 2018

So daylight savings happened last week and the spring equinox was a couple of days ago. I believe it is official: SPRING IS HERE!!! As you shed off some layers and attempt to get some spring cleaning done, here are some fun, budget friendly, children friendly events happening in Winnipeg for the month of March-May. Plus, we know that it is 2018 and you are trying to hit those #goals. So we have included some workshops for personal and professional development, all under $30.

  • Spring break at the Children’s Museum of Manitoba

Spend spring break at the children’s museum of Manitoba designing creating and building castles. Activities involve construction hats, levers, pulleys, museum maps and lots of fun. Cost included in the cost of museum admission.

  • Financial Education Workshop (From March to April)

  • Winnipeg Comedy Festival

The Winnipeg Comedy Festival was launched in 2002 and is produced annually by the Gas Station Arts Center. Since then, the festival has expanded to include year-round outreach programs, rural tours, workshops, and television broadcasts.

This is a 7 day event with various paid and unpaid shows to choose from.

  • Downtown Farmers’ market

‘Tis the season for pop-up shops and farmers markets. The downtown farmers market offers artisan items, meat, cheese, baked goods and more from up to 64 local vendors. Check out their social media page for more information and a list of vendors.

  • Fundamentals of Facebook marketing workshop

 

The Manitoba Marketing Network presents a workshop to help maximize Facebook as a marketing tool and get more online leads.  All attendees receive a PDF copy called “The Five Things You Must Do To Attract More Online Business”. Plus a light dinner would be provided.

  • Winnipeg International Storytelling festival

Now in it’s 13th year, the Winnipeg International Storytelling Festival aims at promoting the art of story for peacemaking and developing youth voices for improving democracy, human rights and much more. This is a 5 day event featuring activities from puppetry to deaf story telling. The event is free and open to all.

  • Girls Learning Code Day 2018: Collaborative Game Production (For ages 8-13)

 

A day designed for girls ages 8-13 to learn to code. The program is fun and interactive and would involve team work to come up with game designs. Participants would leave having a better understanding of how their favorite games came to be and how coding can be used for self-expression and as a means of changing the world.
