Now, you don’t see very much of these in Winnipeg but guess what, it’s happening live on August 31, 2019 – The Africanad Carnival! This street festival celebrating the diverse ethnic cuisines and culture of the Afro-Caribbean (or Afri-Caribbean) has been generating some buzz and making some waves. So if you’re looking for where to be and what to do over the long weekend, this certainly is the place to be!
The very first of its kind in Winnipeg, the Africanad Carnival will play host to a variety of African groups serving the general public with entertainment, and vendors showcasing African crafts and food! Look out for the likes of DJ Jordan, the Umoya Drummers, Sierra Leone Dancers, Qway-C, and many more performers from both in and out of Winnipeg. For food vendors, Afriket does not have a confirmed list but be sure you’ll be graced with mouth-watering and delicious pastries from Arabelle’s Bakery.
